Jumpstarting Women in Automotive Careers
Groups of women from Western Sydney and Sydney who love working with cars have finished a 14 week auto-repair scholarship at Blacktown and Ultimo TAFEs as part of the NRMA's JumpStart program. The 2002 graduates received a Certificate I in Automotive from TAFE giving them a head start when applying for apprenticeships, further training and eventually jobs in auto-mechanical repair industry. There will be more Jumpstart programs in 2003.

International Women's Day - a day to celebrate!
International Women's Day (IWD) is held on 8 March every year. Most TAFE NSW Institutes put on activities especially for girls and women during the week leading up to IWD. The activities include things like course taster days, cabarets, breakfasts and information stalls.

You can call the Women's Strategy Officer at your local TAFE Institute for information about what is happening at a TAFE college near you.

The Department for Women also has lots of information on IWD events in NSW.

Youth Week is Your Week
It's National Youth Week (NYW) from 7-14 April 2003. NYW is an annual celebration of Australia's youth. NYW is run for young people, by young people. NYW encourages young people to get out and share ideas, go to events, discuss issues, show off their talents, enter competitions and CELEBRATE.
